Latest News :- Statues of the meditating Buddha, which is the symbol of Andhra state, have been lying in the mud at a social welfare department hostel in Amaravati for more than 5 years. The people there have expressed concern over the fact that till now no government official has paid attention to this. The symbol of power of Andhra Pradesh is the Dhyana Buddha. This is why the Telugu Desam Party had last installed a 125 feet tall meditating Buddha statue in Amaravati. Situated on the banks of Krishna river, this statue is very grand. The then Chandrababu Naidu government decided to build a wall around it and install a meditating Buddha statue on those walls and also prepared small Buddha statues and kept them safe in a room of the students' hostel belonging to the Social Welfare Department.

In such a situation, when Jagan came to power after the 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh, he raised the issue of capital for the last 5 years by talking about 3 capitals for Andhra Pradesh and left the people in confusion. Furthermore, the Buddha statues, which were safe during his reign, were removed from the hostel room by the authorities and placed in a corner outside. These idols have been lying in the mud soaked in rain, sun and snow for the last 5 years. Now that there has been a change of government again in Andhra Pradesh and Chandrababu Naidu has become the Chief Minister, when I asked Chief Engineer of Tourism Department Niwasara whether these statues will now be renovated, he said that they will definitely be renovated. Will go and be installed somewhere else. Soon.
