Security officials told the media that Indian and Chinese armies have started withdrawing from two disputed areas along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. It is said that military equipment has also been removed from these 2 locations as part of an accepted goodwill effort.

On June 15, 2020, there was a clash between soldiers of the two countries at Patrolling Point 14 in Kalwan Valley area of ​​Ladakh. 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in the clash that lasted for several hours. Many people were killed on the Chinese side also. However, the country has hidden this information. After this conflict, India concentrated its army there. In response, China also deployed its army. Due to this, there was a danger of war between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were severely affected by this incident. A war of words broke out from both sides. The meeting between the leaders of India and China was also postponed. However, with time, efforts began to build confidence on both sides. Talks were initiated at the level of high-ranking military officers. After this, after 5 years, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met and talked at the BRICS summit held in Kazan, Russia. In this, it was decided to take forward bilateral relations on the basis of mutual trust and respect.

Ahead of the meeting, last Monday, both sides had agreed to resume patrolling and withdraw troops from the disputed border areas in Ladakh. On the basis of this agreement, the withdrawal of troops started from today. Military officials have said that the withdrawal of troops from Semchok and Chepsang in Ladakh has started from today and military equipment is also being removed. This is being considered a major success in the 4 year old border conflict.
