Savoji belongs to the Kachiroli tribe of Maharashtra. He joined the Maoist movement in 1991 and was involved in illegal activities for more than 33 years. It was announced that a reward of Rs 16 lakh would be given to anyone giving information about him. Till now he has shot dead (Inbar Mars) 54 policemen and police informers. Also involved in 85 firings. He was surrounded several times but fortunately he escaped. A total of 226 cases are registered against him in the states of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. Savoji was the most litigious person in the Maoist movement.
