Latest News :- The 'digital arrest' scam, where people impersonate government officials and contact individuals on their cellphones to issue fake threats, has been on the rise in recent times. Prime Minister Modi assured that strict action will be taken against such fraudsters.

Prime Minister Modi has a habit of talking to people through the radio program 'Voice of Mind' (Mann Ki Baat) on the last Sunday of every month. In such a situation, the 115th episode of the show 'Manteen Ghur' was telecast yesterday. In this, Prime Minister Modi said, 'Digital Arrest' scam has been increasing recently. They impersonate police, CBI, Narcotics Enforcement Agency, RBI officials and call individuals on their cell phones to issue fake threats.

By doing this they collect information related to individuals, scare them and extort lakhs of rupees from their hard-earned money. If you also get such calls on your cellphone, then avoid panic. In that context you should keep three things in mind. It's just rest, think, act.

No government organization will make such threatening calls on cellphones. Similarly you should clearly understand that investigation and verification activities are not conducted through video calls. I once again emphasize that there is no place in the law for threatening 'digital arrest' through cell phone or video. All intelligence agencies are working closely with state governments to arrest the gangs involved in such frauds. A National Cyber Crime Coordination Center has been launched for coordinated functioning of these organizations.

Therefore, inform the fraudsters who are extorting money unnecessarily by calling 'Digital Arrest' by contacting the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or through the website cybercrime.gov.in. Strict action will be taken against such fraudsters. Already lakhs of SIM cards, cell phones and bank accounts have been frozen due to their involvement in such scams. I urge schools and colleges to involve students in the campaign against cyber fraud. Only through collective efforts in the society can we overcome such challenges. Prime Minister Modi said this.
