There were many such occasions when an innovative culture could have developed in India when it comes to the defense sector, but due to some reasons this could not happen. The main reason for this is that we have been an import dependent country for a long time. New ideas could not be born in India due to dependence on imports for weapons and equipment. Even when ideas arise, we do not have a complete system to implement them.

But in the last few years, keeping national security in mind, we have decided to reduce our dependence on imports and become self-reliant. The commitment shown by Prime Minister Modi is guiding us even today. It is due to the foresight of the Prime Minister that the situation has progressed so rapidly in the last few years. Today we have a solid environment. Today we are moving rapidly towards self-reliance.

The public sector itself is trying to make India self-reliant. But we also see an important role for the private sector. Our government has tried to integrate both public and private sectors. Our public sector was already included in the defense sector. But we understood how far a bird can fly on one wing. After coming to government, we have also strengthened the other wing of the Defense Department. That is, we tried to strengthen the contribution of the private sector in the defense industrial ecosystem.

The government is making all necessary efforts to encourage the private sector. Where needed, capital was provided to the private sector. They were given a platform for research and development. The rules were also made easy for them. Today, the private sector is actively participating in defense innovation. Today we are fulfilling not only our own needs but also the needs of other countries. Today all our efforts seem to be successful.

As a result of our joint efforts our dependence on imports has reduced. The biggest result of our efforts is the revolutionary idea of ​​science, technology, innovation and self-reliance across the country. This idea is also spreading rapidly. This idea gives hope to all of us Indians that we can be self-reliant. Any major development that takes place anywhere in the world definitely has some idea behind it. Change cannot come without thought. However, new ideas are not easily implemented. And ideas also have to face many problems. However, if the thoughts are strong, they will overcome all difficulties.

The spirit of innovation and self-reliance has now blossomed in India. Through our actions together we have awakened this idea in India. This awareness has arisen among the youth. When this consciousness becomes awakened it acts like a self-operated machine. It is because of the ideas of our youth that there are more than one lakh startups in India today. There are more than 100 of these unicorns. There are many start-ups that play a major role in defense manufacturing. Our youth have realized that innovation can make us self-reliant.

There is nothing more powerful than an idea. His time has come. But moving forward, should we wait for that time? We cannot sit back saying that the time will come, the idea will come and we will implement it. We must bring that time through our efforts. Time does not come for thoughts, rather we have to bring that time through our hard work and dedication. You are completely capable. I have full confidence that you will bring that time to India with your hard work and your innovation. The Indian Navy has received over 2,000 proposals from Indian industry. These proposals have been converted into 155 challenges. Collaboration has been established with 213 MSMEs and startups. Rupee. Contracts worth Rs 784 crore have been concluded.
