Latest News :- Election officer in Maharashtra refused to accept the nomination of a former Congress leader due to a delay of 2 minutes. Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Anees Ahmed has served the party for nearly 40 years. He has handled many important responsibilities. He has been in charge of Congress especially in Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
In such a situation, due to differences regarding contesting the assembly elections to be held next month, he resigned from Congress last Sunday. He later joined the Vanjit Bahujan Academy (VPA) led by Prakash Ambedkar. Subsequently, VPA gave Anees Ahmed a chance to contest from Nagpur Central constituency. But as he arrived late by 2 minutes on the last day of filing nomination, the election officer refused to accept his nomination.
Anees Ahmed says, “When 2 days were left to file the petition, I joined another party. Due to this, I had to do various things like purchasing various certificates and opening a bank account. Besides, there were other problems including traffic congestion on the way to the election office (District Collector). As a result, we could not go within the specified time and were delayed by 2 minutes.
The result was that the election officer refused to accept my petition. I told my problems but he did not accept it, he said. Assembly elections are going to be held in Maharashtra on 20th November. It is noteworthy that the work of filing nominations for this ended at 3 pm yesterday.
