Latest News :- The Indian government has strongly condemned Canadian Minister David Morrison's allegation that Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered violence against Khalistan separatists. The Indian government has said the allegation is absurd and baseless and has summoned a Canadian consular officer to explain on the matter. Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was assassinated in Canada in June 2023. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government led by Prime Minister Modi of helping in this and created an uproar. There is tension going on between India and Canada regarding this for the last one year.
In this context, Union External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, who responded to Canada's allegation last May, said, “The Canadian government has not provided any evidence to blame India for the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Hardeep Singh was murdered in Canada due to domestic politics. His murder has nothing to do with India. Some groups of Khalistan supporters have prepared a vote bank for themselves in Canada. The government that is in power at present does not have the strength of majority. Apart from this, some parties are dependent on Khalistan supporters. In such a situation, Canada is targeting the vote bank and accusing India in the Nijjar massacre.
In such a situation, Canada has now accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison recently accused Indian Home Minister Amit Shah of ordering violence, threats and intelligence gathering to target Khalistan separatists in Canada. America's Washington Post newspaper had recently published a news regarding this matter. The news said that 'Indian Home Minister Amit Shah gave permission to attack Sikh separatists in Canada and Canadian security agencies have collected evidence of this.'
Canada's Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison said that I was the person who mentioned the name of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in the Washington Post. The Government of India has strongly condemned this. The Indian government has confirmed that Canada's allegation is absurd and baseless. The central government has sent a summons to the Canadian Embassy to give clarification on this matter. Union External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Rantir Jaiswal said that on October 29, before Canada's Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison made absurd and baseless allegations against Indian Home Minister Amit Shah. In this regard, the Indian Government has summoned the Canadian consular officer and lodged a strong condemnation.
Indian consular officers are ill-treated and their movements are monitored by the Canadian government. His speech is heard. Similarly, the Canadian government is acting in violation of diplomatic rules. Indian Consulate officials in Canada are working amidst such a crisis. Apart from this, Canada is spreading wrong ideas about India to defame India on the world stage. Such irresponsible actions can have serious consequences on bilateral relations. He said this.
