98 year old woman in Punjab gets cashless cancer treatment under ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’

Moga: Further strengthening its commitment to ensure accessible and dignified healthcare services, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is ensuring that even the most vulnerable sections of the society get timely treatment without any financial burden. In this sequence, a 98-year-old woman from Moga got cashless treatment for cancer under the Chief Minister Health Scheme.

98 year old Mukhtiyar Kaur got special treatment

Mukhtiyar Kaur, one of the senior most beneficiaries of the scheme, received specialized treatment related to chemotherapy, the entire cost of which was covered under the health card. In an age where continuous medical care is a must, the availability of cashless treatment has ensured that treatment decisions are taken only on the basis of medical necessity and not on financial status.

Advanced treatment and quick start

This treatment used advanced drugs and supportive therapy, which required constant monitoring and timely medical intervention. As soon as the health card was verified in the hospital, treatment was started without any delay, thereby maintaining continuity of care.

Solution to families’ concerns

The expense of frequent hospital visits and specialized treatment often becomes a major concern for families taking care of elderly relatives. Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana addresses this problem by facilitating access to quality health services, allowing families to focus solely on patient care and recovery.

Health Minister’s statement

Highlighting the impact of the scheme, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Mukhyamantri SEHAT Yojana is ensuring that elderly patients of Punjab get timely and necessary medical services without any financial hardship, while maintaining their dignity. Access to treatment at this stage of life is of utmost importance and this scheme is enabling families to ensure this care with confidence.”

Main features of the scheme

Under the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, cashless health cover of up to ₹10 lakh per year is provided to each family, allowing beneficiaries to receive treatment in empaneled government and private hospitals across Punjab.

Statistics and appeal so far

More than 9 lakh health cards have been issued so far and beneficiaries are receiving treatment under more than 2,300 treatment packages in more than 900 empaneled hospitals. The Punjab government is encouraging citizens to get health cards made at designated centers so that they can avail cashless health services under this scheme.
