Rishabh Pant equates to MS Dhoni with sixth Test century against Bangladesh

Team India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant returned to Test cricket with a magnificent hundred against Bangladesh in the second innings of the Chennai contest. His sixth century has placed him alongside legendary cricketer MS Dhoni.

While Dhoni reached this landmark in 90 Tests, Pant has equalled the record in 34 red-ball games.

India were 34/3 when the southpaw arrived at the crease. He shared a 62-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal and amassed 39 runs off 52 balls in the first innings.

Pant was unhappy with his dismissal and ensured to go big in the second innings. The hosts had lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli with just 83 runs on the board. Pant batted smartly to stich a crucial stand with Shubman Gill, who also scored a ton.

He didn’t allow Bangladesh bowlers to stage a comeback and consolidated India’s position in the game. Pant didn’t become over-aggressive and kept his wicket intact.
