UPSC CSE Mains 2024: Check day 2 exam analysis, candidates’ reaction here

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission has successfully conducted the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) Mains day 2 exam today September 21. The exam was held in two shifts- shift 1 was from  9 AM to 12 noon and shift 2 was from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. UPSC Civil Services Mains Analysis 2024 Day 2: Difficulty level

The difficulty level and good attempts on day 2 of both shifts of the UPSC CSE Mains exam are shared in the table below-

There are four General Studies (GS) papers in the UPSC Mains exam. Each of the papers is of 250 marks. The GS papers have questions on subjects like history, polity, economy, ethics and more. Out of the total weightage of 1000 marks, those who score 400 have more chance of qualifying for the personality test.

  • Many analytical questions are asked in the GS paper.
  • In GS Paper 2, the questions require an understanding of constitutional provisions, government policies and contemporary issues.
  • The importance of current affairs is more in the GS paper and questions are based on current affairs.
  • The GS paper 1 has questions on subjects such as history, geography and Indian society.
  • Over the years, the difficulty level of questions in history and geography has increased.

The UPSC Mains 2024 exam began on September 20 with the essay paper. The exam is being conducted for five days. The last day of the exam is September 29 which will conclude with paper 4 (optional subject paper 1) and paper 5 (optional subject paper 2).
