Anmol Kharb reaches semifinal of Polish International

Indian badminton prodigy Anmol Kharb continues to shine on the international stage, advancing to the semifinals of the Polish International, a USD 5,000 tournament, on Saturday.

The 17-year-old rising star secured a commanding quarterfinal victory, by defeating Lithuania’s Samanta Golubickaite 21-9, 21-17 in just 37 minutes.

Anmol now faces Denmark’s Frederikke Lund in a high-stakes semifinal clash.

Fresh off her first international title at the Belgian International, where she overcame Denmark’s Amalie Schulz in a three-game thriller, Anmol has been in exceptional form. She kicked off her Polish International campaign with another straight-game win against Schulz, defeating her 21-17, 21-16.

In the second round, Anmol breezed past Ukraine’s Sofiia Lavrova with a dominant 21-12, 21-7 victory, further solidifying her status as one of Indian badminton’s brightest talents.

Since playing a pivotal role in India’s triumph at the Badminton Asia Team Championships earlier this year, Anmol has rapidly risen through the ranks. Currently positioned at 165th, up by 55 spots after winning the Belgian International, she is on track to claim her second consecutive BWF title, a feat that will significantly boost her ranking.

After winning their maiden international title last week, Anmol said, “It is special, this title will remain very close to my heart.”
