New Delhi: In a heartwarming moment, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was spotted interacting with R Ashwin’s daughters after his team’s dominant 280-run win against Bangladesh in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ashwin’s all-round heroics played a key role in India’s thumping victory as the host went 1-0 up in the two-match series.
Ashwin was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant six-wicket haul and 113-run knock with the bat in India’s first innings. The veteran spinner rescued India’s sinking ship in the first innings with his sixth Test century before bagging his 38th Test fifer during Bangladesh’s second innings to help India complete a thumping victory with a day to spare.
As Ashwin completed his post-match formalities after being named the Player of the Match, Rohit was seen catching up with his daughters. The Indian skipper was seen engaging in a heartwarming conversation with Ashwin’s two daughters. A video of the incident surfaced on social media and was loved by fans as it went viral.

Ashwin continued his dream run in Tests at his home ground, Chepauk where he enjoys a fabulous record. The veteran spinner headed into the series after skipping the Duleep Trophy and batting up the order in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Having worked on his batting, it all paid off for Ashwin as he top-scored for India in their first innings and bailed the team out of pressure.

Indian skipper Rohit heaped praise on Ashwin after his match-winning display in the Chennai Test as the hosts went 1-0 up. The Hitman said Ashwin is someone who cannot be kept out of the game and is always at his team’s service with the ball or the bat. Ashwin became only the first player to take a fifer and hit a century in a Test match twice at the same venue – Chennai.
“Every time we look up to him, he’s always there for us whether with the bat or ball. I don’t know if I speak here, it’ll be enough of what he does for this team. Every time we see him come out and do the job, it’s always so brilliant. He’s never out of the game,” Rohit said, lauding Ashwin.
