Cyber ​​Fraud: Posed himself as an officer of Delhi Airport and stole Rs 1 crore from industrialist's account

Ludhiana : Fraudsters in Punjab have allegedly duped an industrialist of Rs 1.01 crore, police said on Sunday. Police officials said Rajnish Ahuja, a resident of Sarabha Nagar and owner of an automobile parts manufacturing unit, received a call on WhatsApp in which the caller introduced himself as an official of the Delhi airport.

Ahuja was told that a courier sent by him containing 16 passports and 58 ATM cards was seized at the Delhi International Airport and a person named Sanjay Singh was caught with the courier at the airport. According to police officials, the caller claimed that Sanjay Singh had admitted that Rs 38 crore extorted from someone had been deposited in Ahuja's bank account.

There was talk of transferring the matter to Delhi Police

When Ahuja denied sending any parcel, the caller said that his ID might have been misused to send the parcel and the matter was being transferred to Delhi Police. Police said that a few minutes later, the victim received a call from another number and the caller identified himself as Sunil Kumar working in Delhi Police. The caller told Ahuja that an arrest warrant has been issued against him and he will be arrested for sending couriers and receiving extortion money in his bank account.

Fake arrest warrant sent to intimidate and blackmail

Police said that fake arrest warrants were also sent to Ahuja to intimidate and blackmail him. Fearing legal action, Ahuja transferred Rs 86 lakh and Rs 15 lakh respectively to the bank accounts mentioned by the fraudsters. After this, the victim received another call from a new number and the caller introduced himself as a CBI officer. Ahuja was told that he has been found innocent and the money will be refunded. However, police said that he did not get his money back. After receiving the complaint, the cyber police froze the transactions in the bank accounts in which the victim had sent the money and a case has been registered.
