WATCH: Ellyse Perry Left Bamboozled After Being Dismissed in the Most Bizarre Run-Out

Australia’s Ellyse Perry was left bamboozled by a delivery from New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr during the second T20I that took place in Harrup Park in Australia on Sunday.

Perry who was batting on 34 looked to pick up the pace and play the orthodox sweep shot against the spinner. But the ball ended up landing on her boot which then lobbed the ball to the keeper’s hands. Following the shot, Perry might have lost balance which resulted in her going out of the crease which then prompted the stumping by the wicketkeeper.

The defending T20 Women’s World Cup champions went on to set a target of 142 with three balls to spare. The skipper, Alyssa Healy finished as the pick of the batters, scoring 38 off 25 deliveries. Kerr went on to finish the innings as the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with figures of 4/20 in her quota of four overs.

Despite the meagre total, it proved to be enough as Ashleigh Gardner finished with bowling figures of 3/16. Suzie Bates looked to give New Zealand a decent start as she scored a run-a-ball 34. However, she lacked the support from the other batters as they finished for just 113/7 in their 20 overs, confirming the series defeat.

Gardner had also contributed with the bat scoring 18 runs as well, to win the Player of the Match award.

The Australia women’s team will play New Zealand in the final T20I on September 24 following which they begin their T20 World Cup campaign by playing two warm-up games before the tournament.

Healy’s side will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on October 5. They will also have other sides like India, Pakistan and New Zealand as part of Group A which will prove to be an interesting contest in the group.

The six-time World T20 Champions will look to extend their record as the most successful team in the tournament by kicking off the tournament on a dominant note.
