Mahindra's first Thar Roxx auctioned! 'VIN 0001' sold for Rs 1.31 crore, what is so special about it that it got such a high bid

Auto News Desk – The first customer unit of Mahindra Thar Rocks was put up for auction from September 15 to September 16. The serial number on this number plate is 'VIN 0001'. The Thar Rocks with this serial number was priced at Rs 1.31 crore. The amount raised from this auction will be donated to a non-profit organization based on the winner's choice. Earlier, the company auctioned the 3-door Thar in 2020. The auction amount was donated to aid COVID-19 relief organizations.

What is special about VIN 0001 Thar Rocks?
Mahindra had decided to auction the top-spec AX7 L Diesel Automatic 4WD variant of the Thar Rocks. This number plate not only bears the VIN 0001 symbol of the first customer unit but also bears Anand Mahindra's signature badge. The company is yet to confirm the colour in which the Thar Rocks have been auctioned. However, the automaker has all the colour options to choose from. These include Deep Forest, Everest White, Tango Red, Battleship Grey, Nebula Blue, Burnt Sienna and Stealth Black.

Mahindra Thar Rocks VIN 0001: Features
This top spec version of the big Thar is equipped with features like dual 10.25-inch screens (infotainment and digital driver display), auto AC, ventilated front seats, 6-way powered driver seat and panoramic sunroof. At the same time, for the safety of the passengers, it has features like 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Mahindra Thar Rocks VIN 0001: Engine
Mahindra Thar Rocks comes with two engine options.
2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 162 PS of power and 330 Nm of torque.
2-litre diesel engine, which produces 152 PS of power and 330 Nm of torque.
Both these engines are mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Mahindra Thar Rocks VIN 0001: Price
The ex-showroom price of Mahindra Thar Rocks ranges from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh. In the Indian market, it competes with Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Jimny.
