Birthday Special: The Indian cricketer whose batting was admired by the fans, but his anger ruined his career

New Delhi: Ambati Rayudu, one of India's stormy batsmen, has his birthday today i.e. on 23rd September. He is celebrating his 39th birthday today. He was born in 1985 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Rayudu has played very few matches for the Indian team. Rayudu has been in the news a lot because of his anger. He retired because of his anger.

Ambati Rayudu has been in controversies many times due to his anger. After him, many players started their career and achieved great heights in cricket, but due to their anger, they could not make the mark at the international level that they deserved.

Made international debut in 2013

Due to his anger, his cricketing talent never came out. Rayudu used to get into arguments with teammates and even the BCCI on the field. Rayudu then made his international debut against Zimbabwe on 24 July 2013 in Harare. In this match, he scored 63 runs off 84 balls. Since then, he kept getting in and out of the team. Rayudu made his international debut at the age of 27. He also became the oldest batsman from India to score a half-century in a debut match.

Announced retirement in anger

Ambati Rayudu played his last international match against Australia in 2019. After which he announced his retirement. Actually, all-rounder Vijay Shankar was included in the team in place of Rayudu for the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup. Chief selector MSK Prasad called Shankar a 3D player and justified the selection. After which Rayudu tweeted and wrote, 'I have ordered 3D glasses through which I will watch the World Cup.'

Rayudu had directly taunted the chief selector with his tweet. After which the controversy started. This controversy grew so much that Rayudu angrily announced his retirement from international cricket. Everyone was surprised by Rayudu's decision, but he later changed his decision and withdrew his retirement.

Controversy in IPL too

Something similar was seen in IPL as well. In the match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012, Rayudu lost his temper. In this match, Rayudu clashed with former Indian team fast bowler Zaheer Khan. AB de Villiers and Dhawal Kulkarni intervened between the two. Not only this, while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2016, Rayudu clashed with his own team player Harbhajan Singh.

Bhajji got angry due to which he made some comments, after which Rayudu could not control his anger and went and clashed with him. Rayudu has also played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He was one of the key batsmen of CSK.

If we look at Rayudu's career, he got a chance to play ODI and T20 International matches for India. Rayudu started his ODI career on 24 July 2013 and T20 career on 7 September 2014. Rayudu scored a total of 1694 runs in 55 ODIs with the help of 3 centuries and 10 half-centuries. Whereas he has scored 42 runs in five innings of 6 T20 matches.

Rayudu's career in IPL was quite spectacular. He has scored 4348 runs in 204 matches. This includes 22 half-centuries and a century. He has played many matches for Chennai where he has single-handedly won the match for the team.
