India showed amazing performance in Chess Olympiad – Vishwanath Anand, Nakamura and many politicians congratulated

New Delhi: India set a new record in the 45th Chess Olympiad, after which all the politicians are congratulating and praising the Indian chess team. Meanwhile, India's great chess player Vishwanash Anand is also not tired of praising the Indian team.

Veteran player and five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand congratulated the Indian men's and women's teams for winning gold medals for the first time in the Chess Olympiad, calling it the result of amazing play. The Indian men's team defeated Slovenia on Sunday in the competition being played in Budapest and secured the first place in the open category for the first time, while the women's team achieved this feat by defeating Azerbaijan.

“Congratulations to the Indian men's team on winning the Olympiad with one round to spare. Historic performance. Amazing game for sure,” Anand posted on Instagram.

“Congratulations to D Gukesh and Arjun Erigesi for their individual success,” he said. Congratulating the women's team, Anand made special mention of Divya Deshmukh and Vantika Agrawal who registered an easy win against Azerbaijan.

Anand said, “Congratulations to the Indian women's team. The entire team and captain Abhijeet Kunte achieved a great result. Special congratulations to Divya Deshmukh and Vantika Agarwal for their excellent performance.”

Sports Minister congratulated

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also praised this historic achievement. Mandaviya tweeted, “India has created history in chess. Many congratulations to our chess teams for winning gold medals in the Chess Olympiad. This is India's first victory in this prestigious competition. Our chess heroes have made India proud by showcasing their talent and hard work on the global stage.”

Nakamura praised the Indian team

American Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura also praised the Indian teams and said that Anand's legacy is safe. Nakamura posted, “The way the Indian teams dominated the entire competition is commendable. Vishwanathan Anand's legacy is safe.”

Mallikarjun Kharge congratulated the team

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party president Rahul Gandhi congratulated the men's and women's teams on winning the gold medal and said that this golden victory has made the country very proud. Praising the men's team's victory, Kharge said, “History has been created. Congratulations to Team India on winning its first gold medal in the open category at the Chess Olympiad.”
