AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan gets a setback, judicial custody extended till this date

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan got a setback from the court on Monday in the money laundering case related to the Delhi Waqf Board. On the demand of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Rouse Avenue Court extended the judicial custody of Amanatullah Khan till October 7.

The AAP MLA is accused of illegally recruiting 32 people during his tenure as the chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board and renting out several properties of the board. Also, misusing the funds.

Amanatullah Khan was arrested on 2 September

Earlier, on September 9, the Rouse Avenue Court had sent Amanatullah Khan to judicial custody till September 23 in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in recruitment and misuse of properties of the Delhi Waqf Board. Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on September 2, following which he was questioned by the central agency for six hours.

Amanatullah Khan can influence the investigation- ED

During the last hearing, the ED had opposed Amanatullah Khan's bail in the court. During this, the ED had argued that if Amanatullah Khan was released, he could influence and obstruct the investigation.
