1.94 lakh complaints of child pornography, rape received on NCRP portal till April 30: Government

NCRP Portal: Union Minister Annapurna Devi on Wednesday said nearly 1.94 lakh complaints related to child pornography and rape or gang-rape were registered on the government's National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) till April 30.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said that since the launch of NCRP, it has been viewed by more than 16.18 crore people.

He said, “About 1.94 lakh complaints related to child pornography and rape or gang rape have been registered till April 30, 2024.”

He said that till March 31, more than 69.05 lakh Cyber ​​Tipline reports have been shared with the concerned states and Union Territories.

According to the minister, the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) is operational in all 36 states and Union Territories and, as of April 30, over 36.29 crore calls had been handled, and the '112 India' mobile app had over 14.36 lakh downloads.

Devi said monitoring centres for Vehicle Tracking Platform (VTP) have been operationalised in 11 states and Union Territories, which will enhance tracking and safety of public transport.

Under the Integrated Emergency Response Management System (IERMS) project, CCTV systems have been installed at 489 railway stations across the country. In addition, 2,034 tabs have been purchased and distributed to Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel to assist women traveling alone or those who need help in trains.

The minister said that under the pilot project, AI-based Facial Recognition System (FRS) has been integrated with the video surveillance system at seven major railway stations.

Integration of Women Helpline (WHL-181) with ERSS is operational in 35 States and Union Territories. As on 31 May, more than 76.02 lakh women had sought helpline assistance.
