Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday urged fishermen to avail the facilities offered through Kisan Credit Card and said it will boost their business.
Sitharaman said at the BJP membership drive here that fishermen whose applications have been rejected by banks and financial institutions can approach her for a solution.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set up a separate department to address issues related to fisheries.
The Finance Minister said, “There are many schemes for the welfare of fishermen and they can avail term loan facilities to expand their business.”
Pointing to the introduction of Kisan Credit Cards specifically for farmers, Sitharaman said Prime Minister Modi suggested that arrangements should be developed for the welfare of people traditionally engaged in mariculture in India's coastal areas.
He said that women of the community can also avail term loans from banks and financial institutions by obtaining Kisan Credit Card.
He said that on taking loan under KCC, the government will provide guarantee on your behalf and the borrowers will not have to mortgage anything.
