Investment in these technologies will increase in India, Indians will benefit from AI

New York Google and Nvidia, which are among the giant companies of the technology sector, may soon increase their contribution in India. During the US visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he met the CEOs of the biggest companies of the technology sector. The main objective of this meeting is also to emphasize on increasing artificial intelligence i.e. AI technology in the country.

Jensen Huang, CEO of graphics processing unit (GPU) major Nvidia, said the Prime Minister has always been keen to learn about AI, its potential and opportunities for India. Huang said, “I have enjoyed many meetings with the Prime Minister. He is a wonderful student, and whenever I meet him, he wants to know about technology, AI, its potential and opportunities for India, the impact on Indian society and industry.”

High demand for AI workloads

Nvidia is estimated to have 88 percent market share in the GPU segment. There is huge demand for AI workloads worldwide. He said India is a country of some of the greatest computer scientists in the world, where there are great opportunities. Huang said, “Artificial intelligence is also a new industry, a new manufacturing industry. I am looking forward to partnering very deeply with India to make this possible. We have many partnerships with India. We are helping India to get access to our most advanced technologies.”

Digital India vision

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the Prime Minister is focused on transforming India with his Digital India vision and is pushing the company to build and design in India. “He challenged us to think about applications in healthcare, education, agriculture, and he is also thinking about India's infrastructure, whether it is data centers, power, energy. He is investing to transform India. We are investing strongly in AI in India, and we look forward to doing more of that,” Pichai said.

AI should benefit the people of India

He said that the Prime Minister asked Google to do more work in the field of AI and he wants to ensure that AI benefits the people of India. According to Pichai, “He has a clear vision regarding the opportunities created by AI, but he wants to ensure that ultimately AI benefits the people of India. He has a clear vision that it should be for the service of the people of India. He is challenging us to do more work.”

Round table meeting

The meeting took place at the Lotte New York Palace hotel on Sunday during the second leg of Modi's three-day US visit. The Prime Minister participated in a roundtable meeting with CEOs of American companies working on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, quantum computing and semiconductors.
