Google TV Streamer Launches Today with New Home Panel, Sports Hub, and More

The Google TV Streamer announced last month as a replacement for the Chromecast line is finally arriving in stores today. The users can avail it for $100. The users should also take into note that Google is bringing TV Streamer features like the smart home panel and AI to Google TVs from Hisense and others.

The Google TVs are now equipped with the key feature of the home panel that was announced earlier. Now, we can view and control all compatible smart home devices like lights, cameras, thermostats, and others directly from our TVs either through our voice or with the help of Google Assistant.

The new feature of the doorbell notifications shall also give us the comfort of viewing who is present at the front door without the misery of stopping our favorite program.

In addition, Google announced a few new features we have yet to see. With the Ambient screensaver, the users can use their TV as a picture frame by displaying Google photos and even creating AI-generated designs. As long as you don’t mind seeing soulless art created by machines, the latter feature is pretty neat. Google has added “enhanced” AI overviews for popular movies and series on streaming services such as HBO. “These overviews include full summaries, audience reviews and season-by-season breakdowns” to help you choose a show, Google said.

Some honorable mentions in terms of new features include a new sports page in the For You tab from where it will display the games for the users, YouTube highlights, and commentary all in one place to name a few.

Google has also added a guide for its live TV Freeplay service that was previously a soft-launched feature. Now, the users can keep track of the 150 plus free channels. The Google TV Streamer, Hisense, and TCL smart TVs, as well as Epson and XGIMI projectors, will begin to offer the new features today
