'Doesn't Indulge in Hotchpotch': Rohit Sharma's 'Simple' Leadership Mantra Earns Massive Praise From Former India Pacer

Team India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma’s leadership has been the talk of the town ever since his T20 World Cup 2024 victory. Now another former Indian fast-bowler has come out praising the skipper for his leadership qualities which was observed even in his younger days.

Speaking in an interview with CricTracker was the former Indian pacer, Praveen Kumar who has been with the national side during Rohit’s early days in his international career.

The 37-year-old hailed Rohit’s leadership mantra as one that does not get too confusing and aims to keep it simple for the players, something Praveen had noticed much earlier.

“Yes, I felt that. Rohit Sharma had those leadership qualities in him since his young days. He tries to keep it simple while captaining and does not indulge in any hotchpotch,” Praveen shared.

“He doesn’t panic much and keeps it normal while leading the side, and it feels good when we see him lead the country (successfully) like that,” he added.

Now the Indian skipper has set sight on his next target, the World Test Championship. Rohit’s side is already at the top of the WTC standings and will hope to maintain their dominance at the top of the pile with the Indian team lined up to play as many as 9 more Tests for the year.

Team India recently sealed a dominant win over Bangladesh in the first game of the two-match Test series which took place in Chennai by a margin of 280 runs. Rohit Sharma will be keen on maintaining their dominance at home with the second game being played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27.

However, the Indian side will face some tough opposition with New Zealand coming in for a three-match series. The Kiwis who currently sit at fourth on the points standings, will hope that they are still in the race to possibly nail a top-two spot.

This would be followed by the headline Test series of the year with India touring Australia to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November.

Rohit will have the tough task of picking the right squad to make the trip Down Under and hope that they can get past the dominant Aussies and hopefully retain the title once again.
