Delhi Metro: Dwarka Mor, Nawada Stations To Be Renovated

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced plans to renovate the Dwarka Mor and Nawada stations on the Blue Line, both of which are approximately 20 years old and experience high traffic volumes.

Officials confirmed this renovation initiative on September 22 as part of a broader effort to upgrade the Blue Line. The renovation project is said to be completed by next year, with a total estimated cost of Rs 8.95 crore. A tender for the renovations has been issued, and applications for the tender are due by September 30.

Furthermore, the work will comprise repainting the Metro stations, replacing fittings and equipment, installing new pipes and side railings, renovating the concourse space, installing new benches (if necessary), installing new signage, and installing a new overhead system.

Additionally, new escalators and viaducts may also be installed, if compulsory, according to officials. “Repainting and installing new fittings and signage will give these stations a new and fresh look,” a DMRC official said quoted by Hindustan Times.

“We have also completed painting work at the Barakhamba Road Metro station on the Blue Line. Repair or renovation work is undertaken as and when required, based on ground-level inspections,” the official added

Similar repair work has already been finished by DMRC on the Red Line, and last month, bids were opened to renovate Anand Vihar and Vaishali, two more Blue Line stations.

The Nawada, Dwarka Mor, Anand Vihar, and Vaishali metro stations on the Blue Line, which are among the busiest, will be given a new design and are expected to be beautified by 2025.

Reportedly, Inderlok and Laxmi Nagar stations on the Blue Line, and Chandni Chowk on the Yellow Line are the other three stations where multimodal integration work is presently under progress. This project will improve the accessibility of alternative means of transport, particularly feeder buses, from the Metro Station.

The Blue Line from Dwarka Sec 21 to Noida Electronic City is 56.114 kilometres long and includes 50 stations in total. The route from Yamuna Bank to Vaishali is 8.511 km long and contains eight stops.
