“Out tha abe yaar…”Rishabh Pant blames Rohit Sharma for this blunder

How could one captain do so well in most aspects of the game yet struggle so much with the DRS? On Day 4 of the 1st Test match against Bangladesh being played in Chennai, sharma’s non-review for a caught behind didn’t sit well with wicket keeper Rishabh Pant who urged him to consider going upstairs. Never mind when he stuck to his decision regarding review. But when another angle of the incident was played on the DAP, the face of the India captain most especially when Pant was next to him, said it all.

The scene takes place in the over 62 of the innings when the batter hitting for Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud, was looking to weather the spin bowling of India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. The ball turned quite a bit, which also reared up high and hit the batter on the gloves and then was captured by Pant.

In contrast, the forearm seemed to be where the ball hit first before eventually reaching the wicket keeper’s gloves. DRS was called for by Pant but Rohit dismissed the idea. However, the subsequent replays confirmed that the ball only grazed the glove. Therefore, if only the earlier scenario had occurred, there would have been an agreeable review for the Indian captain and the umpire would have signaled out.

As the replay was shown on the giant screen, Pant even poked skipper Rohit saying the batter was out, he should at least look at the screen. “Out tha, abe yaar replay dekh to lo (it was out, at least see the replay), Pant could be heard saying to Rohit.

Nevertheless, the ruling did not trouble the Indian side, which went on to secure a 280 run victory to lead the series 1-0.

Following the match, Rohit had a lot of good things to say about Pant, who made a remarkable return to Test cricket, having not played the longest format for over 600 days.

He has seen some very low points in his career. The way he carried himself during those times was amazing. He returned in the IPL, went on to play the World Cup, which he enjoyed the most that,” Rohit stated during the post-match presentation.
