Team Europe beat Team World 13-11 to win the Laver Cup

Four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz beat Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5 as Team Europe came back from behind to beat Team World 13-11 in the Laver Cup tennis tournament.

Alcaraz broke US Open runner-up Fritz in the 11th game of the second set and then held his own serve to win the match and ensure victory for Team Europe.


The team was close to winning its third consecutive title with an 8-4 lead in the world before the third and final day of the three-day match.

Team Europe bounced back on Sunday when Alcaraz and Casper Ruud defeated the American pair of Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 7-6 in doubles.

Shelton then defeated Australian Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev 6-7, 7-5, 10-7 to give Team World the lead again.

Tiafoe had a chance to lead Team World to victory but lost 6-7, 7-5, 10-5 to French Open finalist Alexander Zverev.

Alcaraz then defeated Fritz to seal the victory for Team Europe.
