Arvind Krishna was born in Andhra Pradesh, grew up in a Telugu-speaking family. His father served as an officer in the Indian Army, while his mother worked for the welfare of army widows. Krishna’s early education took place in Tamil Nadu and Dehradun, after which he pursued his engineering degree from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.

After completing his studies in India, he moved to the United States to pursue a PhD in Electrical Engineering. During this time, he joined IBM, which changed his career and life.

Arvind Krishna joined the company in 1990 and worked his way up through various positions, gradually climbing the corporate ladder.
