Decomposed body of UPSC aspirant found in Mukherjee Nagar, identified as Deepak Kumar Meena

New Delhi: The decomposed body of a civil services aspirant was found hanging from a tree in a forest area in north-west Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area, police said on Monday. The body of Deepak Kumar Meena, a resident of Dausa in Rajasthan, was recovered from a forest area near the library of a coaching institute on September 20. He was missing for several days, police said.

A senior police officer said Meena is suspected to have committed suicide. He said CCTV cameras have been checked and it is suspected to be a case of suicide. The matter is being investigated. Meena's father C.L. Meena told the police that his son had come to Delhi in July to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) main exam after clearing the preliminary exam.

was missing for 10 days

Meena's father said that he used to call home every evening and he last spoke to family members on September 10. He said that when he did not call till September 13, he reached Delhi and started looking for his son. C.L. Meena also went to the 'PG' accommodation where his son lived and the youth who shared the room with Deepak told him that his son had not returned for two days. He then lodged a complaint at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.

During the search, Meena's body was found in the forest near the institute where he studied. The officer said that it is suspected that he had gone towards the forest after the class. He said that Meena's bag was found hanging from the same tree and no suicide note has been recovered. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family.
