Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot had officially given permission for an inquiry into the matter on August 17. Siddaramaiah is accused of obtaining land compensation using fake documents in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. The complainants, which include activist T.J. Abraham and others, claim that the chief minister and his family have fraudulently acquired expensive plots in the scam. In the 1992 land acquisition and subsequent developments by MUDA, a case related to 3 acres of land belonging to Siddaramaiah's wife Parvati has also come to light, in which she was given highly valuable land as compensation. There are allegations of fraud and misuse of power in the process. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra has called it a scam of a large scale, in which Siddaramaiah and his family have been accused of involvement. The scam, which came to light through an RTI, involved more than 6,000 sites allotted in the last four years under the 50:50 scheme.
