‘Avengers’ actress Claudia Kim announces divorce from WeWork Korea former general manager

South Korean actress Claudia Kim and Matthew Shampine, the former general manager of WeWork Korea, have mutually decided to divorce after five years of marriage.

“After careful discussion, Kim decided to end her marriage and has completed the mutual divorce process through an amicable agreement,” stated YG Entertainment, Kim’s management agency, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.

The agency highlighted the respectful and considerate nature of the separation and requested privacy and restraint from public speculation.

“Although the two have chosen to go their separate ways, they will continue to support each other,” it stated. “Since this decision was made after long contemplation and thorough conversation, we kindly ask you to refrain from making any malicious comments or speculation.”

The couple first revealed their relationship in Aug. 2019 and got married in December of the same year. Their daughter was born in Sep. 2020.

Shampine, 42, also known as Cha Min Geun, was adopted by an American family as a child. A founding member of WeWork, a provider of coworking spaces headquartered in New York, he is currently the co-founder and CEO of DNK, which provides property management systems specifically for the Asia-Pacific region.

Kim, 39, began her acting career in 2006 and rose to international prominence with her role in the 2015 movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” She expanded her Hollywood presence by playing Nagini in the 2018 film “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”
