Former player of India National Cricket Team Dinesh Karthik said that Australia are favourites to win the upcoming Border Gavaskar after a decade. The five Tests will be played in Australia starting in Perth on November 22.
Australia defeated India in the final of the World Test Championship last year. However, the sub-continent team has won four consecutive Test series against Australia, including two Down Under.
“I can’t predict the scoreline but Australia are favourites this time. It is going to be hard for India to beat them for the third time in Australia. If India manage to win another Test series against them, it will be one of the greatest things in the history of Indian cricket,” Dinesh Karthik said on HeyCB with DK Show.
India are currently playing a two-Test series against Bangladesh, and the hosts won the opening game by 280 runs. On the other hand, Australia are 2-0 ahead in the five-ODI series against England.
Dinesh Karthik warned Team India, saying that Australia are in form and are the holders of the WTC title.
“The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be challenging for India. Australia are in form, and it was not by chance that they defeated India in the WTC final. They are brilliant at home, but knowing about the quality of our players, it will be a series to watch out for.”
Australia defeated New Zealand 2-0 in their previous Test series.
