Sub Junior Hockey Men's National Championship to begin from September 22 in Chandigarh

The Hockey India Sub Junior Men's National Championship will be held from September 23 to October 3. The tournament will see 28 teams from across the country competing for the title, with hockey fans getting to see exciting matches for around 14-15 days.

The teams have been divided into eight pools. The top team from each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals. This will be followed by semi-finals, third place playoff and final matches.


Six matches will be played on the first day. In Pool G, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey will face Goa Hockey, and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu will face Hockey Gujarat.

In Pool E, Hockey Punjab will clash with Hockey Karnataka, while Hockey Bihar will clash with Hockey Manipur. In Pool F, Hockey Arunachal will clash with Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, while Hockey Chandigarh will clash with Hockey Maharashtra.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “The Sub Junior Men's National Championship is an important platform to identify and nurture young talent from across the country. We are excited to see the rising stars of Indian hockey in action.”

“Getting our young athletes accustomed to match conditions is our priority. We are looking forward to seeing some strong performances over the next two weeks,” Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh said.
