PM Modi’s bold leadership behind India’s rise in Asia Power Index: Hardeep Puri

New Delhi: Union Minister and BJP leader Hardeep Singh Puri has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bold and visionary leadership for India’s rise in the latest Asia Power Index this year. The report, released by Sydney-based Lowy Institute, has listed India as the third most powerful country in Asia, behind the United States (US) and China. India has moved to third spot replacing Japan.

Reacting to the development, the Petroleum Minister said that India’s rise was the result of Prime Modi’s diplomatic strategy and his bold ambitions to reshape the place of India in the world. Puri observed that without the leadership of PM Modi, the country could have still languished behind.

‘India to be third largest economy by 2043’

Accusing the previous governments of indecisive and directionless approach, the minister added that the country’s economy will be the third largest economy by 2043. he also mentioned the Indian Monetary Fund (IMF)’s forecast, which said that India will rise to the rank by 2027.

The report released by Lowy Institute also highlighted India’s growth in various categories including Diplomatic Influence, Economic Capability, and Future Resources. As per the minister, these surged due to PM Modi’s continuous international engagements. “It’s PM Modi’s tireless effort on the world stage that has put India back on the map. He’s taken India’s nonalignment policy and transformed it into a powerful tool for gaining leverage in global diplomacy,” Puri added.

The minister observed that while countries like China are facing a slowdown, India under PM Modi has the resources and leadership to be the new kingmaker of Asia. Hitting out at the Opposition, he added those who question PM Modi’s impact on India’s growth must look at the facts. “India’s trajectory is up, and the world can no longer ignore it,” he added further.
