Randeep Hooda’s Swatantrya Veer Savarkar officially submitted for 2025 Oscars

New Delhi: After Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies was selected as India’s official entry for the 2025 Oscars, Randeep Hooda’s film, Swatantrya Veer Savarkarhas been officially submitted for the prestigious 97th Academy Awards.

To announce the good news, a joint post was shared by Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, and producer Sandip Singh on Instagram with a poster of the film. Let’s dig inside more details about the same.

The makers of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar expressed their gratitude for global recognition and called it a “moment of pride” for everyone who believes in telling stories of unsung heroes. The team of the film along with Randeep Hooda thanked the Film Federation of India for “remarkable appreciation”.

Earlier, Randeep Hooda opened up about investing his personal funds on the BeerBiceps podcast. The actor said that his father had purchased properties in Mumbai, which he had to sell for the film. He revealed that they had “financial difficulties” and so he needed money to put in the movie as he received nobody’s support.

India’s official entry to Oscars

Film Federation of India announced on Monday, September 23, that Kiran Rao’s Laapataan Ladies is India’s official entry for the 2025 Oscars. It is currently available to watch on Netflix.

About Swatantrya Veer Savarkar

The film, which marked the directorial debut of Randeep Hooda, is a biographical drama based on the life of the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. In the film, Ankita Lokhande essayed the role of Veer Savarkar’s wife, Yamuna Bai.

The film was released in theatres on March 22, 2024, and collected Rs 31.23 crore worldwide gross. If you haven’t watched the film yet, then it is available to watch on Zee5.
