Earthquake tremors of 3.3 magnitude felt in Kutch, Gujarat, no casualties reported

Ahmedabad: Earthquakes are often felt in Gujarat. This time, if we look at the last two hundred years, earthquakes have been felt for the ninth time in Gujarat on Monday. Fortunately, there is no news of any casualty due to the earthquake. An earthquake of 3.3 magnitude hit Gujarat's Kutch district on Monday morning. The Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) gave this information.

Officials said there were no reports of any casualties or property damage in the district due to the seismic activity. Gandhinagar-based ISR said the earthquake was recorded at 10.05 am and its epicentre was 12 km west-southwest of Rapar.

Four tremors came this month

According to ISR data, four earthquakes of more than three magnitude have been felt in the Saurashtra-Kutch region of the state so far this month. Gujarat is a state sensitive to seismic activity. According to information provided by the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), the region has experienced nine severe earthquakes in the last 200 years.

There was a devastating earthquake in 2001

According to GSDMA, the 2001 Kutch earthquake was the third largest in more than two centuries and the second most destructive earthquake in India. On January 26, 2001, Gujarat was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 with its epicentre near Bhachau in Kutch, affecting the entire state.

According to information provided by GSDMA, about 13,800 people were killed and 1.67 lakh people were injured in the earthquake.
