“Pakistani bowlers work under the impression that they are bigger than ….”Former Pakistani legend drops a massive criticism on Men in green for disrespecting this South African legend

Legendary South African pacer Morne Morkel last month appointed as India’s bowling coach, and in his first match as a part of support staff, the Indian bowlers put on an exceptional performance against Bangladesh in Chennai last week. In the first innings, legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin went wicketless but made up for it well in the second by picking up six wickets while Jasprit Bumrah (4, 1) and Ravindra Jadeja (2, 3) made sure that five Bangladeshi batters each returned early to the pavilion.

Before coming on board with the Indian side, Morkel also coached the bowlers of Pakistan in 2023 but that was a short and uneventful period with the Men in Green.

Basit Ali who is now an analyst from cricketer and who is formerly of Pakistani origin, has gone hard on the stars of the Men in Green and has countered them for showing disrespect to the legendary fast bowler. He stated that Pakistani bowlers take pride in being bigger than the game of cricket.

“Pakistani bowlers work under the impression that they are bigger than the game itself. They even thought that Morkel was no big deal, looking at us,” Basit said in a video on his YouTube account.

After the series opener which took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai in which India defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 280 runs Basit stated that there is a huge gulf in the thinking of the Indian players and Pakistani players.

“We got to know the difference. This is the same Bangladesh which played against Pakistan and this is the same Bangladesh against whom Pakistan looked completely on the back-foot. This is the same Bangladesh that defeated Pakistan without losing a single match. The only difference is in the mindset, the way of thinking, and the class.” He added.

Bangladesh faced Pakistan in a two-match test series prior to their arrival in India and for the first time in history, vanquished the Pakistani national team in the longest form of the game – the Test matches. This result became more disastrous for the Pakistani side as the matches were staged in Pakistan and still, they could not use home advantage to the maximum.

Following the conclusion of the ongoing Test series, which the second match will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Friday September 27, Bangladesh will play India in three matches T20I series which is on October 6 in Gwalior.
