Big action by I4C wing of Home Ministry, 6 lakh mobile phones and 65 thousand cyber fraud URLs closed

New Delhi. The cyber wing of the Home Ministry, I4C, is constantly taking important steps to crack down on cyber crime. In this sequence, the government has shut down more than 6 lakh mobile phones, which were involved in cyber fraud. Apart from this, 65 thousand cyber fraud URLs have also been blocked. According to sources, I4C has also blocked more than 800 applications involved in cyber crime. In 2023, more than 1 lakh complaints of investment scams were registered on NCRP, in which more than 17 thousand FIRs have been registered across the country.

Key steps taken by Cyber ​​Wing

1. Actions on Mule Accounts: In the last 4 months, debit of more than 3.25 lakh fraudulent accounts (Mule Accounts) was frozen.
2. Crackdown on social media and WhatsApp: 3401 social media accounts, websites and WhatsApp groups being used for cyber crime were closed.
3. Financial security: An amount of Rs 2800 crore was saved due to cyber fraud in the last few years.
4. Rescue of Cyber ​​Victim: MHA saved 8 lakh 50 thousand cyber victims from fraud.

Major steps taken to tackle cyber crime:

1. Coordination Centre at National Level: A national level Coordination Centre has been set up to handle cyber crime cases across the country.
2. Help in filing cyber crime complaints: Facility for citizens to easily lodge complaints related to cybercrime.
3. Help to law enforcement agencies: Technical and legal help is being provided to the police of states and union territories for prevention of cyber crime.
4. Identifying cybercrime trends: The changing trends and patterns of cyber crime are being monitored.
5. Cyber ​​awareness: Guidelines are being issued to increase awareness regarding cyber crime among the public.
6. Alert on digital arrest: In view of the increasing incidents of digital arrests, police of states and union territories are being alerted.
7. Training of Cyber ​​Commandos: 5,000 cyber commandos will be trained and prepared in the next five years.

What is I4C wing?

The I4C wing was established on 5 October 2018 under the Cyber ​​and Information Security Division (CIS Division) of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its objective is to establish a national level coordination center to deal with cyber crime, which is connected to the control rooms of the states across the country. This center monitors high priority cyber crime cases and assists in investigations, including detection of fake cards and accounts in cyber crimes.
