Indian Army in joint operation with BSF recovers arms and ammunition in Manipur – Read

Imphal (Manipur) [India]September 24 (Desk): In a joint operation, Indian Army, Border Security Force and Manipur Police recovered huge cache of arms, ammunition and war like stores, officials said on Tuesday.
According to an official release, based on specific information, a team led by Indian Army with BSF and Manipur Police launched a joint operation in general area of Bungjang Village in fringe areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts of Manipur.

“The operation successfully led to busting of an arms cache, being used by miscreants and recovered one sniper rifle, one heavy calibre launcher, one pistol, one single barrel gun, ammunition and multiple war like stores. The captured arms and war-like stores have been handed over to Manipur police for further investigation and disposal,” the release said.
“The security forces remain vigilant and committed for an early restoration of peace and prosperity in the state of Manipur,” it added.
Earlier on September 22, in a series of search operations and area dominations, the Army, in coordination with the Manipur Police, recovered a significant number of arms, ammunition, and explosives from several districts, including Churachandpur.
The operation led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, including a 5.5 feet rocket, 9 mm SMG Carbines, a large size mortar, two medium-sized mortars, 4 mortar bombs, two pistols with magazines, 9 live ammunition rounds, a single Barrel rifle, 17-meter cortex, 9-meter-long fuse and hand grenades.
