IND vs BAN: Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir Share Smiles and a Hug After Securing Mammoth Win in Chennai

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir’s unmissable reaction following India’s opening Test against Bangladesh is winning hearts on social media. From engaging in verbal duels to becoming inseparable partners, the Kohli-Gambhir relationship has certainly come a long way. The ongoing Test series between India and Bangladesh has witnessed several warm camaraderie moments between the duo.

A similar interaction occurred after India bagged their first victory in red-ball cricket under Gambhir’s management in Chennai. Following a dominant 280-run victory at the MA Chidambaram, Kohli and Gambhir hugged during the celebrations.

Both were smiling as they walked past each other after the hug. A video of the moment was shared on X (formerly Twitter) and the post read, “Virat Kohli & Gautam Gambhir smiling and hugging post-match!”

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have been winning hearts ever since the India-Bangladesh Test series began on September 19. Hours before the Chennai Test started, the duo featured in a video where they discussed their journeys extensively. In the same interview with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Gambhir even claimed that Kohli’s knock against Pakistan at the 2012 Asia Cup was the best ODI performance he had ever seen.

“I saw you make your debut, play that very important knock in the Champions Trophy in South Africa on a tricky wicket against the West Indies, and then playing probably the best one-day innings that has been played by an Indian batter, and I have said this before,” Gambhir said.

In another light-hearted moment, Gautam Gambhir was seen erupting into laughter during the closing moments of India’s batting at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Before Akash Deep’s dismissal, the Indian bowler was hit by a rogue throw from Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud.

It led to Akash Deep requiring medical attention in the field. At that point, the camera focused on the Indian dressing room where Virat Kohli was seen saying something to the Indian coach. The remark left the head coach in splits. One fan shared the incident’s video on X and asked, “GG laughing like that? What is the joke?”

As for the Test series, India will now have their eyes set on a 2-0 win against Bangladesh. Virat Kohli will also be looking to make a comeback in the second fixture following an unimpressive individual show in Chennai. The former Indian skipper is just one hundred shy of reaching the 30-century landmark in Tests. The second Test between India and Bangladesh will start on September 27.
