Bollywood's 'cowboy' who ruled the film industry for many decades

New Delhi, September 24 (IANS) The famous star of the 70s who is known for his unique style, different style, handsome look and characters as well as stylish direction. His name was – Firoz Khan. Firoz, who was the most loved hero of his time, sometimes appeared in the role of a hero and sometimes entertained the fans a lot with his directed films. He was called the 'cowboy' of Bollywood.

This style icon of Bollywood has worked in more than 60 films. He was considered the style icon of Bollywood and till date no one has been able to compete with his style. Firoz was also greatly influenced by Hollywood and he was compared to Hollywood actors in those days.

When he started writing films, he made many Hindi films inspired by Hollywood films. The influence of Hollywood was quite visible on his films.

Firoz Khan recited a nazm in an award show. Neither for love nor for friendship, time does not stop for anyone, do not hurt your heart for the indifference of this world! It is better for a man to keep moving with time…!! His aim was to give a message to the youth of the country that they should keep moving ahead in life with time. During this, he also narrated many untold stories related to his acting career. In which he told how his father rebuked him when he talked about becoming an actor.

Apart from being a successful actor, Firoz was also a director and producer. Some of the films made under his direction are still considered iconic. He was born in a Pathan family in Bangalore on 25 September 1939. His father was of Afghan origin and mother of Iranian origin. He moved to Mumbai to make a name for himself in the world of acting and in a very short time he made a good name for himself on the 70 mm screen there.

He made his acting debut in 1959 with the film 'Didi'. This actor, who always wanted to be a style icon, soon fulfilled his wish. At that time, there was no one to compete with him. Whether it was about acting skills or looks, he had no competition.

His tall stature, fair complexion, smart-handsome face and loud voice made him stand out from the crowd. Not only in films but also in real life, he was always in a hero's getup with suit-boot, jacket and hat on his head. His royal style ruled Bollywood for years. He did many superhit films like 'Aadmi Aur Insaan', 'Dharmatma' and 'Mela'.

Firoz Khan was not only a seasoned actor, but he was also a very brilliant director. He started his career as a director with the film 'Apraadh' released in 1972. After this, he made 'Qurbani', a 1980 Bollywood action drama thriller film. He also produced and directed it.

He was last seen in Akshay Kumar's film 'Welcome' in 2007. In this film, he won a lot of praise from the audience for his role of an underworld don. Firoz Khan died on 27 April 2009 due to prolonged illness.
