‘Sir do hi haath hain’: Virat Kohli turns down Kanpur hotel staff’s handshake – WATCH

New Delhi: Team India will face Bangladesh in the second Test match at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, starting on 27 September. Ahead of the match, Virat Kohli has reached in Kanpur along with Rishabh Pant and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

As soon as Kohli entered the hotel lobby, he was mobbed by the fans. Hotel staff applied Tilak on Kohli’s forehead and then greeted  him with the bouquet and a ‘rudraksh’. The star batter never refused fan requests for autographs or selfies but this time was forced to turn down a handshake.

A hotel staff member reached out to Kohli for a handshake but the former India skipper was carrying a bag in one hand and a bouquet in another turned down his request saying “Sir, 2 hi haath hain (I got only two hands)”, but did make up for it with a pleasant ‘thank you’.

‘Under pressure’ Kohli looks to score big runs in second Test

The star Indian batter only managed to score 6 and 17 runs in the two innings of the first Test against Bangladesh. He will be hoping to score big runs for the team in the second Test match in Kanpur.

He has played just one Test match at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium in 2021 against New Zealand and scored only 27 runs in two innings. The Bangladesh Test in Chennai was Kohli’s first Test appearance in over eight months since India’s tour of South Africa, where he played a brilliant knock of 76 runs in the centurion Test.

Kohli missed the five-match home Test series against England in February-March due to the birth of his second child Akaay but returned in time to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024. He scored more than 700 runs at an average of 61.75 in 15 matches but had a quiet T20 World Cup 2024. He notched up 76 runs in the final against South Africa in Barbados and helped the team to lift their second T20 World Cup trophy.
