Meanwhile, the new President of Sri Lanka, Disanayake, made a statement that became a topic of discussion. He said that he will not be completely in favor of India, nor will he lean in favor of China. He said that he does not want to become a sandwich between India and China.

In an interview to a local news magazine, Dissanayake said that Sri Lanka does not want to get caught in the ongoing battle for dominance in the world. He said that neither will we join this race nor will we support any country.

Kumara Disanayake said that both India and China are our friends and we will not support any one of them. He said that I hope that we will have good relations with both the countries in the future and we will keep helping each other.

Will also maintain good relations with EU and Africa

Dissanayake further said that he will also maintain good relations with the European Union and Africa. He said that our foreign policy will be impartial.
