Disappointed with dirt, Madhya Pradesh minister cleans hospital floor with wiper

Shivpuri: Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar personally cleaned the floor of Shivpuri District Hospital during his visit. According to reports, he cleaned the floor of the hospital due to poor sanitation conditions. The incident took place during his two-day tour of the district, where he inspected various health centres to check their conditions.

On the first day of his visit, Tomar registered an FIR against negligent officials. On the second day, he arrived at the Kolaras Health Center at midnight to conduct another surprise inspection. He checked several hospital wards, including the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) and spoke to patients.

What patients said about hospital’s condition

Pregnant women in the maternity wing informed him that they were not receiving regular meals or breakfast as per the hospital menu and essential items like nutritious ladoos were missing from their diet.

Tomar summoned the hospital’s Chief Block Medical Officer (CBMO), Dr Sunil Khandoliya, only to learn that he was not residing at the headquarters. During his inspection of the nearby women’s toilet, he found it in a filthy state. Upset by the unhygienic conditions, Tomar took matters into his own hands by picking up a wiper and cleaning the toilet himself. He later instructed the Chief Health and Hospital Officer (CHHO), Dr Sanjay Rishishwar, to take action.

Bedsheets changed minutes before Tomar’s visit

That same night, Dr Rishishwar removed Dr Khandoliya from his role as CBMO and replaced him with Medical Officer Dr Vivek Sharma. Dr Khandoliya was reassigned as District Health Officer-2.

After his visit to the Kolaras Health Center, Tomar headed to inspect the Badarwas Health Center. However, word of his surprise visit had leaked beforehand, and the hospital staff rushed to clean the premises. New bed sheets were laid out, and sweeping was quickly done.

When Tomar arrived, he immediately noticed the efforts to cover up the hospital’s usual conditions. A patient named Laxmi admitted that the bed sheets had only been changed ten minutes before Tomar’s arrival.
