Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Friday elected Shigeru Ishiba to lead the country and the party. According to Reuters, Shigeru Ishiba, leader of the current ruling LDP, is almost certain to become Prime Minister. Because the party has complete control over the lower house of the Parliament.

In Japan's democratic system, the lower house of the Parliament is considered very powerful. Ishiba defeated Economic Security Minister Sanae Takaichi in the first and second rounds of voting. Why did Kishida take this decision?

Actually, Japan's ruling party LDP was recently surrounded in controversies because of Fumio Kishida. There were also revelations regarding the party's relations with the Unification Church. Not only this, the party was also in the news for negative reasons due to the controversy regarding political funding in December last year. Apart from this, the approval rating of Kishida's cabinet was also continuously falling. It had remained only around 20 percent for the last eight months.

This reason came to light

Kishida was leading the country as well as the party. That's why a lot of questions were being raised on him. At the same time, voices of protest were being raised against the government. On which the party leaders said that it is very difficult to win the next general elections under the leadership of the present government. In such a situation, Kishida had said that he will resign from the post of party president next month i.e. this month. He also announced his resignation from the post of Prime Minister.
