DUSU Election 2024: Uproar in Delhi University Students Union elections, misbehavior with election in-charge professor

Voting for Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections has started. Students will vote today for the posts of President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Voting will take place in 2 phases. The first phase will be from 8.30 am to 1 pm and the second phase will be from 3 pm to 7.30 pm.

Today about 1.40 lakh students of Delhi University will exercise their franchise to elect their representative. The main contest in DUSU elections is between ABVP and NSUI.

Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections are being held today. Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out between NSUI joint secretary candidate Lokesh Chaudhary and the teacher in-charge at a polling booth in the university.

First year students will be able to cast their vote by showing fee receipt and ID card. Students of 2nd and 3rd year will be given the right to vote only after showing the college ID card. This year 22 candidates are trying their luck in the Delhi University Students Union elections.

The major political parties contesting the DUSU elections are the Congress-backed National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Students Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Association (AISA) are jointly contesting the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections for the first time.

A total of 21 candidates are contesting the elections, out of which 8 candidates are contesting for the post of President, 5 for the post of Vice President and 4 each for the post of Joint Secretary and Secretary.

Raunak Khatri is contesting for the post of President, Yash Nandal for the post of Vice President, Namrata Jeff Meena for the post of Secretary and Lokesh Chaudhary for the post of Joint Secretary.

On behalf of the Left alliance, Savi Gupta of AISA is contesting for the post of President, Ayush Mandal of AISA for the post of Vice President, Sneha Aggarwal of FSI for the post of Secretary and Anamika for the joint post of DUSU.

When will the result come?

After the case of violation of DUSU election rules came to light, the Delhi High Court on Thursday allowed DU to continue with the DUSU elections, but imposed the condition that the counting of votes will not take place until all the posters, hoardings, graffiti and other campaigns are removed. -Related materials are not removed from university and college campuses. The High Court has banned the counting of votes till then. The court has directed that EVMs and ballot boxes be kept safe until further orders are issued. That means the chances of election results coming on September 28 are now less.
