Musheer Khan suffers injuries in road accident

Mumbai batter Musheer Khan suffered a fracture in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh. The details of his injuries are awaited. The younger brother of India National Cricket player, Sarfaraz Khan, was traveling with his father Naushad Khan from Kanpur to Lucknow to participate in the Irani Cup when the incident happened.

Musheer will miss the match and his absence is also a big blow to Mumbai, as the 19-year-old was in sensational form. The game between Mumbai and the Rest of India will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from October 1-5. Musheer will be away from some of the Ranji Trophy matches, which begin from October 11.

“He didn’t came to Lucknow with Mumbai’s team for the Irani Cup. He was travelling from Azamgarh, with his father, to Lucknow when the mishap happened,” a source told TOI.

In nine first-class matches, he has scored 716 runs at an average of 51.14, including three hundreds and one fifty. He has taken eight wickets. Musheer scored a magnificent 181 on his Duleep Trophy debut for India B against India A in Bengaluru. He was among the top performers in under-19 World Cup.

He is likely to be picked for India A tour of Australia after impressive performances in domestic cricket. In the previous Ranji Trophy season, he amassed 203 not out in the quarterfinal against Baroda and 136 in the final against Vidarbha.

There was no official statement from the Mumbai Cricket Association about the accident, but the selectors are willing soon announce a replacement for the injured batter.
