New Delhi: Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a revolutionary who continues to inspire millions. He was born on September 28, 1907, in Punjab’s Banga and was raised in a Sikh family. He fought against British rule in India and at the age of 23, he was sentenced to death by the British government. At the age of 12, he witnessed the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre which made him take a vow to fight against the British Raj.

Shaheed-e-Azad Bhagat Singh (1954)
The first-ever film to be made on Bhagat Singh was Shaheed-e-Azad Bhagat Singh (1954) which features the popular Mohammed Rafi song ‘Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna Ab Hamare Dil Mein Hai’. The film was released 23 years after the freedom fighter’s tragic death. Directed by Jagdish Gautama, the film stars Prem Abeed, Smriti Biswas, Jairaj, and Ashita Mazumdar.
The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002)
Ajay Devgn starrer The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) is the story of the valour and bravery of the young revolutionary Bhagat Singh who fought against British rule in India. The film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and stars Sushant Singh, Amrita Rao, Farida Jalal, Raj Babbar, and Akhilendra Mishra. The film also won two National Awards 0 Best Feature Film in Hindi and Best Actor.
23rd March 1931: Shaheed (2002)
23rd March 1931: Shaheed starring Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol is a historical biographical film on the life of Bhagat Singh, who was hanged to death along with Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru. The film stars Bobby Deol as Bhagat Singh and Sunny Deol as Chandrashekhar Azad. The film also features Amrita Singh.

Shaheed (1965) is directed by S Ram Sharma and stars Manoj Kumar, Pran, Prem Chopra, Kamini Kaushal, and Manmohan. The iconic film won several National Awards including Emotional Integration Award and Best Feature Film.

Sonu Sood starrer Shaheed-E-Azam (2002) is directed by Sukumar Nair. The film pays tribute to legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
