New Delhi. A Bengaluru court has ordered to register an FIR against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on extortion charges. The special court of public representatives in Bengaluru has ordered to register this FIR. This order has come in relation to allegations of extortion through electoral bonds.

Adarsh ​​Iyer of Janadhikar Sangharsh Organization had filed a personal complaint (PCR) against Nirmala Sitharaman and others. It was alleged in the PCR that extortion was done through electoral bonds. After this, the special court of public representatives in Bengaluru ordered to register an FIR against Nirmala Sitharaman. This order has been issued by the 42nd ACMM Court. Tilak Nagar police will now file an FIR against Nirmala Sitharaman and others.

It is noteworthy that the Center had launched the Electoral Bond Scheme in 2018 and its objective was to replace cash donations given to political parties, so that transparency in political funding could be improved. Funds were given to political parties through electoral bonds, but this was not disclosed. However, later in view of the allegations and petition filed by the opposition, the Supreme Court canceled it.
