Lankan Lions to tussle against West Indies in a white ball series in October

Sri Lanka is expected to play a series of white-ball graphical presentations against the West Indies south of the equator. This includes a three match T20I series and another ODI series as per the ICC. Sri Lanka is also buoyed by the recent success that has seen them register an ODI series win against India, overcome England in a Test Match at the Oval and perform well in the home Test series against New Zealand. In Test cricket, the Men in Maroon had their moments of glory but since then they returned home to record a 3-0 victory over South Africa in the shortest format of the game.

In a move that will further bolster the expectation of diving crowds, the T20I series with the West Indies will commence on October 13. The second and Third match of the series shall fall on October 15 and 17 respectively. Dambulla will also host all the matches of the T20I series.

In the same way, the first ODI match of the series will be played on October 20. The second and third match of the series will be held on 23 and 26 October respectively. All the 50 over matches will be played at Kandy.

Looking at the ODI records, the two teams look to be neck-and-neck with the West Indies having 31 wins compared to Sri Lankas 30. The Island Nation is narrowly ahead in the T20Is with the West Indies trailing them with seven of their own T20 International victories.

Prior to that, Sri Lanka showed impressive form in the two-match series against India and having Whitewashed Team India 2-0 under Rohit Sharma, the latter seemed perturbed. This was the first time Srilanka managed to win an ODI series against India in 27 long years.

The Island nation also located itself to play India in a three-match T20I series. Sri Lanka waged a very careless display over there and suffered a whitewashed 3-0 series defeat to India.
