Producer Vashu Bhagnani addresses the ongoing legal dispute with Netflix

The ongoing legal dispute between production house Pooja Entertainment is getting more complicated with each passing day. Producer Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment has now given a statement expressing his hope about the positive outcome of his case against streaming giant Netflix.

Vashu Bhagnani says, “I have always believed in doing the right thing and have worked hard to keep my commitments. I am confident that the truth will come out and hope for a fair solution. For decades we have been dedicated to making films with passion and I stand by that commitment. I am confident that the authorities will help clarify, solve and bring justice to this case.”

Recently, senior level officials of Netflix were summoned by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) in connection with the case, but they did not appear, leading the officials to say that the streaming giant has not been very cooperative during the investigation. .

Senior inspector Ravindra Awhad, who is looking into the case, had earlier said, “Netflix owes Rs 47.37 crore to Vashu Bhagnani. But Netflix is not cooperating. We sent him two summons but he did not appear. Bhagnani came to us in April, recorded his statement and submitted documents. Netflix asked for time off, but it never came. They keep sending lower level employees, but Monica Shergill (Netflix India content head) should be present.” In April this year, Vashu Bhagnani had filed a complaint, stating that Netflix, in collaboration with two companies namely Los Gatos Production Services India and Zoo Digital India, had leaked the content of his three films 'Hero No. 1' (which is still being shot ), 'Mission Raniganj' and 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan' intervened and said that Netflix owed them money. Pooja Entertainment has been involved in two separate cases, in one they have made allegations against Netflix and in the other the production house has filed a complaint against director Ali Abbas. Zafar, who directed his film 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan', was a commercial disaster.

Earlier this month, Ali had alleged that the production house had not paid his fees of Rs 7.30 crore. In their counter-allegation, Pooja Entertainment's Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani have leveled allegations against filmmaker Ali for allegedly misusing the subsidy amount taken from Abu Dhabi authorities during the shooting of 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan'.

However, soon after the news of the production house filing a case against Ali came out, the crew members of 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan' stood behind Ali Abbas Zafar and accused Pooja Entertainment of being wrong. Several crew members of the film took to their Instagram handles to share how they were not paid during the project.

Earlier this year, there was quite an uproar against Pooja Entertainment for not paying the bottom line dues of its crew members.
